Otherwise, I've read about some guys who claimed they managed to repair gpu chip (reballing it) by using heat gun and reapplying thermal paste. If you get screen flickering in PC/Laptop Windows 10, don’t panic. Does anyone know how much would it cost to have it repaired at an apple store? (i think replacing the whole logic board shouldn't be necessary). UPDATE: i managed to run Apple Hardware Test and turns out my mac has issue 4vdc/1/40000003 videocontroller, which should be related to defective gpu chip that was mounted on some MBP in 2007/2008 (and then similar issues appeared also for 2011 mbp i think) for which apple ran a repair/substition program but unfortunately it has now ended. Any suggestions on how to proceed / solve this problem? Thanks a lot again for the support! and here's a video of the white booting page i'm stuck on and you can hear volume going up and down as i press volume keys, just as if the mac completed booting and yet it's not showing desktop and all. BTW the boot manager that allowed me to select booting from disc didn't show any weird lines/stripes. Tried to boot from original disc but after some loading an error message appeared telling me to shut down computer and boot again (please see this photo where you can also see in the black background of the error message those "lines"/stripes" I was telling about earlier. I have already tried to reset pram and smc, but so far it did not work.Ĭould any please give me some directions on how to fix this? If it weren't for the screen that stays frozen on that white booting page, i'd say the booting process is succesfull because, even screen still shows white loading page, if I press volume keys I hear the volume sound going up/down and if I press thepower button and then either press enter key or R key on the keyboard, the computer shuts down regularly or reboots depending on which key I've pressed, just as if shut down menu had appeard regularly on the screen. Now when I try to start my mac, it starts up but stays forever on the booting screen (the white screen with apple logo and the loading symbol): when it's supposed to switch to the light blue blank screen just before showing my desktop with all the icons, it just remains on the white booting screen and the loading symbol stops loading/freezes. It became unresponsive so I had to shut it down by removing battery.
